This account of a 17th-century Englishman's travels through the Eastern Mediterranean includes visits to Turkey, Egypt and the Holy Land. George Sandys began by visiting France and traveled south to Venice and then to Constantinople and Egypt. While in Egypt Sandys visited several archeological sites, including the Giza pyramids. He published his geographic and ethnographic narrative in 1615. Dedicated to King Charles, this book was an important contribution to English interest in Egyptian history and culture
